AWR (Agency Workers Regulations) came into force on 1st October 2011. The regulation will provide temporary workers with equal treatment in terms of basic working and employment conditions as those who are directly employed by the company to do the same job. These rights will apply after a 12 week qualifying period.
Once the 12 week qualifying period has been completed the temporary workers will be entitled to equal treatment, which includes
- Pay
- Working hours
- Breaks
- Overtime
- Holidays
- Collective facilities
- Training
- however it does not apply to maternity/paternity leave and sick pay.
