What is Commercial/Contract Management?
A Commercial Manager is responsible for developing contractual business agreements with customers and clients. Their tasks can range from helping to win business on bids, to drafting and negotiating terms and conditions of contracts.
Typical commercial management jobs may also involve identifying when other professional input is required, such as legal, financial, supply chain and insurance, and work with specialist functions to manage the provision of appropriate advice.

Contract managers are fundamentally responsible for minimizing a company’s risk when negotiating a contract; they are instrumental in managing relationships with their customer and also in turn are equally vital in helping to bid for new business with customers to ensure the company stays in business.
When issues of contractual change occur they will often work with internal departments to ensure that an effective process is implemented and operated. In most contract management jobs a Commercial Manager will act as a representative of the company, and so will need to be an excellent negotiator, communicator and ambassador for their employer.
