Abbott Laboratories is a global business manufacturing health care products – from prevention and diagnosis to treatment and cure.  At their Queenborough site, they manufacture antibiotics for animals.  Without a history of supply, CBSbutler conducted a routine sales call and set up a meeting, to take a brief for some hard-to-find engineers. Successfully completing the project, they were then approached with another challenge.

The challenge

  • End of summer - peak production had to be achieved to hit winter targets
  • 20 weeks to ramp up production 
  • 30-40 temporary staff needed to be recruited to meet production targets

  • Ran 2 separate ad campaigns, both with an outstanding response
  • 2nd set of ads ran to target candidates further and drill down into different candidate profiles.
  • High calibre candidates, better results than the internal HR function were getting

  • Arranged interviews, tests, medicals
  • Made offers and arranged starts / coordinated induction
  • Transferred candidates being made redundant from another company - easing their problem and resolving Abbots’ recruitment issues.

  • There is a contract in place to handle all payment of PAYE candidates, further reducing the risk to Abbott.
