Our client are a leading prime contractor and complex systems integrator and are one of the largest UK Defence companies. They are looking to recruit a Platform Mechanical Design Engineer to work on a new defence contract win.

Key Duties:

Liaise internally with the Design and Production Engineering Staff with respect to platform design and internal sub system layouts.

Interpret Platform Subsystem Diagrams (PSD) and requirements.

Prepare Land Platform mechanical detail and assembly drawings.

Provide the central focus in development of vehicle design and installation layouts, compiling reports and presentation material.

Write technical reports and provide input into the platform Technical Data Pack in line with interface data and the appropriate requirements set.

Through analysis and calculation, provide recommendations and design modifications that are required for installing Bowman, ECM and EECM equipments.

Have applied knowledge of internal sub system placement and installation techniques relevant to blast and ballistic platform requirements

Prepare relevant information as requested for platform design reviews.

Prepare and present at the design reviews.

Oversee and participate in the physical installation and build of the platform from first of type and build validation, through to series conversion and initial fielding.

Education/Experience
Essential

Experience working on Military Land Mobile platforms

Experience in designing and machining large fabricated assemblies

Experience in designing and installing equipment into Military Land Mobile platforms

Experience designing a variety of sub systems into Military Platforms such as driver controls, seating, armour, turret design, sighting systems, communication systems and stowage.

Ability to conduct analysis of platform welded structure, power budgets, weight distribution and interpret Finite Element analysis information.

Ability to liaise with, and presenting information to, customers including experience with contract amendments relating to deliverables (Documentation and Platform Design)

Excellent applied working knowledge of Pro/E Wildfire v3.0 and PDM-Link

Hold or be capable of holding security clearance up to the level of SECRET

Willing to travel within the UK and overseas

Desirable

Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering

Familiarity with Safety engineering

Familiarity with a variety of international Army Land Mobile Platforms

Knowledge of requirements management and associated management tools

Knowledge of various Mil-standards and Defence Standards

Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills
