A major engineering and manufacturing company, with an expanding order book for advanced medical treatment systems is seeking an Assembly & Test Technician for an initial 3 month period with a good chance of an on-going extension.
DESCRIPTION
+ The production assembly activity actively builds and unit tests a wide range of electro/mechanical sub-assemblies and systems.
+ The items are built to a drawing specification and associated documentation, and where required tested to a Production Test Schedule.
+ Both the build and test activities may necessitate the use of specialist tools or test equipment as specified within Standard Operating Procedures, the drawing package or production test schedules.
+ With regard to test results these are recorded on results sheets which form part of the Test Schedule, these results are filed in the relevant machine log book, serial numbers of test equipment used shall be recorded on these results sheets.
+ Certain sub-systems shall have logbooks raised and completed as per the relevant work instructions.
+ Production assembly quality performance is reviewed each week during weekly team meetings attended by Assembly & Test
+ Faulty components and non-conforming material are rejected using the NCR procedure.
+ A small number of Technicians are required to carryout CNC machining as part of the Waveguide Manufacturing function. Also included is assembly and hydrogen brazing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Responsible for the assembly and test of the product to the drawing specification, ensuring all build and test documentation used is the correct issue, as specified within the work package (load card).
+ When material or assembly quality problems are identified an NCR must be raised and the appropriate short term corrective action taken (ie. repair or reject).
+ If for any reason the specification is found to be incorrect or sub-standard then a change request must be raised to identify the problem so appropriate development actions can be taken to resolve the issue.
+ Assembly staff are made responsible for the quality of their own work following a final assessment and are then authorised to use a personal SI stamp for verification of their own work.
+ Working as part of a departmental quality team will contribute to maintaining and improving production methods and processes.
+ Trained assembly staff are responsible for the production testing of assemblies. They will follow the production test schedule and are then authorised to use a personal ST or QC stamp for verification of the assembly.
+ Assembly staff are responsible for ensuring that all product passed through complies with workmanship standards.
+ Assembly staff are responsible for ensuring all equipment used, which requires calibration, is within the calibration period.
RELEVANT KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
+ Apprenticeship served training.
+ City & Guilds Full Tech Certificate, ONC or HNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
+ Will possess a wide and in depth knowledge of mechanical assembly/wiring or testing
