The Assistant Commercial Manager is the prime interface between the organisation and the customer. They are the internal 'customer champion' and must ensure that the many functional interfaces are controlled and managed in a timely and professional manner to achieve both customer satisfaction and profitable growth for BIW components.

Key responsibilities as an Assistant Commercial Manager:

+ Receive commercial enquiries and review drawings with the engineering function in order to define and analyse customer requirements.
+ Prepare and submit quotations in a format as prescribed by the customer.
+ Cost estimating to ensure margins are secured.
+ Answer any subsequent enquiries and negotiate in order to secure nomination.
+ Maintain analysis of costs by assembly / component and look for opportunities for cost improvement.
+ Issue 'Tooling Request for Quotations' to mother companies and subsequent negotiation.
+ Maintain customer satisfaction and visit customers on a regular basis.
+ Identify opportunities for new business and prepare proposals for Mgt approval before presenting to the customer.
+ Undertake market analysis to define competitive position.
+ Contribute to the creation and adherence of the commercial business plan / KPI's.
+ Sales forecasting. Maintain and compare actual sales to plan and produce monthly reports for the Mgt team.
+ Maintain Business MRP system with commercial data.
+ Undertake marketing and promotional activities to maintain and improve relations with the customer / prospective customers. Produces similar material for internal communication purposes.
+ Assist when required in all commercial functions.

Skills and Experience as an Assistant Commercial Manager:

+ BIW Body in White experience
+ Degree or equivalent in an Engineering or Business discipline
+ Strong interpersonal skills to deal with internal / external customers
+ Sales experience in component manufacturing within the automotive industry.
+ Good judgement and negotiating skills
+ Ability to understand technical drawings.
+ Enthusiasm and commitment
+ Clean driving license
+ Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
