Build Engineer
Location: Two locations available - Hook and Reading
Duration: 6-12 months
Rate: £250 - £400 per day
Experienced Build Engineer required for a potentially long term contract position.
The Build Engineer will support, manage and develop all aspects of the Office and Development environments. The Build Engineer will be expected to make an immediate impact in the current operating environment through previous related knowledge and with limited assistance from fellow team members.
Experience of designing, building and supporting a complex technical solution as part of a major Defence IT infrastructure;
* Producing and reviewing formal detailed design including HLD and LLD documentation to industry standards
* Excellent VMware knowledge (vSphere 4/5, ESXi 4/5, vCloud Director)
* Excellent troubleshooting skills
* Microsoft Windows Server 2003, 2008
* Microsoft Windows XP & Vista
* MS Back & Front Office
* HP Hardware
* Installation, configuration and integration of 3rd party COTS products in a locked-down environment
* Ability to take customer requirements and research equipment specifications and propose shortlisted equipment to the customer in requirements and design documentation.
* Undertake packaging design of system equipment to be used in rugged environmens
* Thorough understanding of COTs Hardware, such as desktops, laptops, servers, switches, routers and other networking equipment, tape and disc storage systems, printers, scanners. The ability to take tasks from both a hands-on and technical specification perspective.
* Able to install COTs software operating systems, Windows and UNIX, applications and packaged scripts, drivers, and diagnose system faults down to component level
