Senior Buyer urgently required to join a team of 4 in a busy medical devices company in Cork.

Role:
* Buyer is responsible for planning production for all business unit components.
*Buyer will be responsible for setting inventory targets and ordering of raw materials.
*Buyer will follow-up with OSPs and material suppliers to ensure on time delivery of goods and expected quality is achieved.
*Buyer will ensure contingency plans in place for demand spikes. Work on Kanban, consignment, JIT and lean inventory management procurement activities.
*Buyer will support the validation and appraisal of raw material and out-sourcing suppliers.
*Support and manage the out-sourcing strategy for the plant.
*Maintain PRMS in good order by operating the system effectively.
*Buyer will partake in problem solving and trouble shooting in the facility, collaborating with all teams to achieve results.
*Buyer will participate in NPI and product launches by partaking in meetings, offering constructive advice and collabating with the design team to ensure a successful product launch.
*Communicate regularly with our suppliers to ensure good quality of service.
*Interface effectively with CI Planning, Operations Finance, IT and Quality Assurance departments to provide customers with a quality product in a timely manner.
*Follow-up on initiated SCAPAs and assigned CAPAs to ensure timely corrective and preventative actions are put in place.
*Follow production plans, which allow the business unit hit absorption levels and deliver inventory, PPV and service targets.
*Drive the plant's cost reduction targets by continuously seeking and implementing opportunities for reducing material and freight costs.
*Buyer will manage the performance of the supply base effectively and participate in Global Material initiatives.

Skills and Education:
*3rd level qualification in Business, Materials Management, Supply Chain Management/Logistics or other equivalent is required.
*The individual should have 3 plus years experience in an MRP environment and have appropriate and related PC system skills. (PMRS / AS400 is desirable but not essential)
*Strong interpersonal and team working skills essential.
*An understanding of business operations is essential.
*Must be creative, able to multi-task and have a hands-on approach.
*The individual should enjoy working in a dynamic and results motivated team.
*Self-starter with demonstrated efficient work methods, analytical & problem solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
