Data Centre Infrastructure Manager

Data Centre Infrastructure Manager required by a leading global law firm based in the heart of the city. The Technology Department is responsible for the provision of Information Technology, computer systems and electronic communications throughout the firm and their clients. The department is a service function which supports and contributes to the objectives of the business. All staff are expected to fit into this service culture and be committed to providing a high quality of service.
Data Centre Infrastructure responsibilities
The Data Centre team are responsible for the design, implementation and support of all Technology Infrastructure globally, ensuring that the infrastructure and environmental services are maintained to the high standards required to provide resilient services to the firm and its clients, liaising with other teams, departments or offices as necessary.
The Technology Infrastructure includes, but is not restricted to, Data Centres, Hub Locations, and Computer Equipment Room (CER) environments along with all aspects of the LAN/WAN, Comms and the Server/Storage/Backup environments. The team also provides 3rd level escalations support to other analysts within the firm and is heavily involved in the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery processes.

Roles and Responsibilities:
The DCI Manager is expected to have an excellent working knowledge of all aspects of the Technology Infrastructure, supported by the wider team.
In addition, in order to effectively support the services running on the firm's technology infrastructure, a good general knowledge of all applications and services provided to the firm is required.
*Line Management of Infrastructure staff who operate 24/7/365, both on-site and by on-call rota, including a small number of staff who are located outside of London,
*Be able to manage a team through periods of change and heavy workload while ensuring core services are maintained to high standards throughout,
*Maintain the firms Data Centres, Hub Locations and CER room environments, working with office services and third parties for power, cooling, structured cabling and equipment racks,
*Maintain our highly available storage platform (based on EMC technologies), delivering fit for purpose solutions for new and existing services taking in to account IOPs, RPO, RTO, sizing and any wider requirements,
*Maintain the firm's Virtual and Physical Server environments, working towards better resource allocation and consolidation whilst maintaining availability, performance and capacity,
*Maintain the firm's Local and Wide Area Network platforms (primarily Cisco technologies), ensuring resiliency is maintained through Dual Provider networks, Class of Service and bandwidth management,
*Maintain the firm's Voice and Video communications platforms based both on traditional PBX and IP technologies,
*Maintain the firm's Enterprise Backup Environment, ensuring data is protected and recoverable in a timely manner adhering to Data Retention policies and other in-country regulations,
*Manage third party technology supplier relationships including new business (RFI/RFP) and business as usual,
*Design and maintain effective Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery technology and procedures working closely with the Application teams, ensuring all team members are fully conversant in said procedures for all office models,
*Technical leadership, working closely with stakeholders within the business and PMO to design appropriate infrastructure solutions to meet the requirements of new and existing services, keeping up to date with relevant technologies and making recommendations as to their potential use within the organisation,
*Ensure effective Capacity Planning, Reporting and Monitoring processes are in place to cover all aspects of the firms Infrastructure,
*Assist other technology teams in the implementation of system changes, deployment of applications, monitoring service health and troubleshooting problems whilst ensuring they are aware of any infrastructure related service outages which are planned or un-planned,
*To build structured, globally focussed documentation of all systems and procedures that are relevant to the Data Centre Infrastructure including reviews of the current processes and documentation as required,

Essential
Proven team management experience, you will be expected to have managed a team of technical engineers/analysts both in an operational infrastructure environment and in delivering projects, many of which involve multiple teams some of which are based in different locations.
Demonstrable technical leadership. High level technical experience in one or more Storage Area Network platforms. High Level technical experience in one or more Virtualisation platforms. Working knowledge of Networks and Voice/Video. Working knowledge of physical servers, enterprise backup and Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery processes. Demonstrable experience working in a multi-data centre, multi-site organization
