SENIOR POWER SYSTEMS ENGINEER (Electronic Armour) - S.WEST - £500 PER DAY
I am currently looking to recruit a Senior Power Systems Engineer to work on Armoured Fighting Vehicle (AFV) development and delivery programmes.
The Senior Power Systems Engineer will report directly to the Lead Engineer and will be a key player within the team.
Responsibilities
*Undertake requirements analysis, system architecture development, modelling, specification, detailed design, prototype implementation and testing of power systems, throughout the development lifecycle
*Define platform power and energy budgets, taking into account current and future energy consumers to derive a balanced system architecture for novel applications
*Support the development and integration of emergent power system technologies through an established network of industry and academic links
*Generate supporting documentation to develop, articulate and define the power solution
*Be responsible for system safety of the electrical design throughout the development and product lifecycle
*Responsible for the cost of design, ease of manufacture and systems integration of power systems into the platform
*Responsible for the design integrity of power system design solutions including safety and EMC
*Responsible for engaging and liaising with both transversal and specific platform domains, including human factors, supportability, survivability, lethality and mobility
*Participation at various internal and customer facing project reviews throughout the bid, design and development programme phases.
Education/Experience
ESSENTIAL
*Strong Degree or equivalent in Engineering or Physics
*A thorough holistic understanding of power and energy generation, storage and distribution technologies for vehicle systems e.g. low voltage 28V DC
*A proven track record in the design, development, qualification and application of power systems
*Analytical by nature and with a working knowledge of power generation, power distribution and interface standards
*Familiar with power management for 28V systems.
*Applied and demonstrable working knowledge of 28V power systems and electrical circuit design
*Experience of power subsystem component packaging.
*Ability to interpret design requirements and propose appropriate design solutions.
*Strong written, verbal and communication skills.
DESIRABLE:
*Familiarity with British Army Land Mobile Platforms
*Understanding of EMC design
*Understanding of 110VAC & 300VDC Power systems
*Familiar with relevant Defence Standards, Military Standards and EC Directives.
*Experience of selecting components for military applications.
