ISTAR Systems Architect

Principal Systems Engineer - ISTAR System Architect

My client is looking to recruit a ISTAR System Architect. You will be a key player within the team and will place significant demands on your engineering knowledge and experience. The role will require close liaison and co-operation with the system engineering and integration subject matter experts.

You will be a team player who is prepared to lead from the front and work with a multi-national engineering team and the customer community. You will be required to work across geographical and cultural divides to draw together a comprehensive engineering capability that will derive a balanced system solution.

Responsibilities

* Responsible for defining and maturing the ISTAR architecture at a system level
* ISTAR risk and opportunities management
* Generate subcontractor ISTAR SOW's
* Understand the ISTAR requirements of the complete system
* Specify the ISTAR subsystems
* Support the generation of the ISTAR views within the SysML model
* Define the Integrated, installed performance of the ISTAR systems
* Specify installation requirements for all ISTAR subsystems and components
* Responsible for ISTAR compliance at a system level
* Responsible for the generation or collation of ISTAR ICD's for all platform systems (ie RWS and Turret)
* Review ISTAR elements of all subsystem documentation (ie Turret and RWS)
* Act as the design authority for all platform ISTAR systems
* Act as ISTAR POC between other domain architects
* Provide system level subcontractor support for all day to day ISTAR activity
* Identify and collate system level ISTAR Simulation and Modelling
* Act as ISTAR POC for the Authority
* Manage changes of the ISTAR requirements and subsystems
* Represent ISTAR during system balancing and setting of technical budgets
* Manage, Collate and report on all ISTAR Technical Performance Measures
* Manage the ISTAR technical budgets at a complete system level ie impact of installation on error budgets)
* Update system level ISTAR specifications and ICD's as necessary throughout the project
* System representative at ISTAR design reviews
* ISTAR representative at System level design reviews
* ISTAR schedule planning, monitoring and reporting at a system level
* ISTAR cost estimation, monitoring and reporting at a system level
* Challenging and finding causes for changes in ISTAR schedule and costs
* ISTAR representative for ITEA planning
* ISTAR representative for manufacturing planning

Education/Experience

Essential

* Degree qualified in engineering or relevant discipline experience.
* Significant experience in the defence industry in a domain relevant to ISTAR and/or AFV's.
* Experience leading activities on engineering development programmes for large defence systems.
* Proven requirements development expertise and experience using DOORS.
* Proven system design and analysis expertise and experience using a SysML tool.
* Proven sub-contractor management experience.
* Proven experience in working with sub-contractors through the integration, test and acceptance phases.
* Proven experience of full systems engineering lifecycle.
* Proven experience managing direct reports.
* Hold or be capable of holding security clearance up to the level of SECRET.
* Willing to travel extensively within the UK and possibly overseas.
