ITEA Lead Engineer


ITEA Lead Engineer required by one of the largest UK Defence companies.

They are looking to recruit an ITEA Lead Engineer, reporting directly to the Chief Engineer you will be a key player within the team, providing specialist systems engineering expertise in the area of system integration, test and acceptance to the programme. The role will place significant demands on your engineering knowledge and experience. The role will require close liaison and co-operation with the system engineering subject matter experts and the platform & domain expertise residing in the wider businesses.

Responsibilities
* Develop integration, test and trials programme to support the system through-life, with particular emphasis on system development, customer acceptance and in-service technology/capability insertion.
* Develop SIL facilities to support integration and test tasks through life for the system.
* Manage and Lead integration and test team to deliver integration, test and trials programme.
* Provide integration and test review reports to the Chief Engineer.
* Provide status reports on the progress of integration and test activities within the capability centres.
* Prepare material for internal and external design reviews.
* Engage in system specific design reviews as the integration and test conscience.
* Support critical design appraisals throughout the design and development life-cycle.
* Effectively communicate integration and test options & constraints to a multidisciplined team throughout all phases of the project.
* Carry out viability assessments of integration and test approaches
* Prepare cost, programme and risk estimates for proposed engineering solutions.
* Provide concise briefings to senior management.

Education/Experience
Essential

* Degree qualified in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience
* Extensive understanding and experience of systems engineering process, including requirements management, systems analysis/design, system integration and test
* A proven track record in the integration and test of vehicle systems from requirements through to series production
* Experience in all vehicle systems domains including vetronics, lethality, survivability, mobility and DAS systems.
* Ability to liaise with and present information to multidisciplined team members.
* Hold or be capable of holding security clearance up to the level of SECRET.
* Good documentation skills, with experience in the preparation of systems documentation, including system test plans, system test specifications and system test reports
* Experienced in the use of systems engineering and integration tools/methodologies
* Extensive experience in determination of compliance methodologies and demonstration through test, analysis and similarity with previously tested equipments
* Ability to think at the systems level.
* Hold or be capable of holding security clearance up to the level of SECRET.

Desirable

* A strong background in military vehicle systems engineering, integration and acceptance
* Familiarity with current British Army tracked and wheeled vehicles.
* Experience of working within a multi-cultural and multi-lingual engineering team.
* Broad knowledge of standards and legislation applicable to military platforms
