Our client has been central to the defence of the United Kingdom for more than 50 years. Due to company growth they are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Mechanical Engineering team.
Role: Mechanical Design Engineer
As Mechanical Design Engineer you will be responsible for:
+ Producing technical submissions associated with the engineering performance of weapon sub-systems and champions the submission through approval processes
+ Participating in multi disciplinary, cross functional teams to collaborate on resolving weapon related problems
+ Generating and maintaining design records and product definition (drawings, models and specifications) and produce validation/verification plans and reports
+ Delivering system specifications, assessments and evidence associated with verification activities
+ Providing engineering expertise to the development of designs with a technical discipline associated with weapon systems
Experience:
As Mechanical Design Engineer you will have experience of:
+ Degree qualified or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or relevant associated technical discipline (e.g. automotive, aeronautical, materials etc.)
+ Broad knowledge of mechanical engineering including materials selection, joining, ageing characteristics, structural and dynamic analysis, trials, hazard analysis, FMECA (Failure modes, effects and criticality analysis) and reliability assessment
+ Knowledge of Project Management and/or System Engineering principles would be beneficial
+ Knowledge of the evaluation methods for design, including analysis, testing, trials and assessments and their limitations
+ Working experience of systems engineering principles
