Operations Director - Strategic Mechanical. A well established and profitable manufacturing division of a globally based engineering group is expanding their solutions offering to their clients through new product induction and manufacturing capability. To drive through this initiative, an Operations Director is sought.

Purpose:
+ Reporting to the MD, to develop & deliver the manufacturing strategy for Process Level globally to ensure optimal manufacturing performance to the customer at best cost and quality.
+ Has overall responsibility for operations performance for products, as well as procurement, quality, Health & Safety & logistics functions.
+ Work with Operations Managers in other regions to ensure transfer of best practice and consistency where appropriate and resolution of common manufacturing issues.

Objectives / Responsibilities
+ Deliver sales production plan to required specification, quality and delivery times.
+ Develop and implement plans to improve manufacturing cells and facilities to World Class status.
+ Lead and develop the Operations team to drive a continuous improvement philosophy throughout the organisation.
+ Determine best cost manufacturing solution for new products to meet future customer demand trends
+ Reduction of Order Fulfilment lead-times - from receipt of order, to planning manufacturing / supplied sources, to dispatch to end-customers across all manufacturing sites and sales offices.
+ Drive simplification, reduction of inventory and increased performance in the complete supply chain.

Areas of Influence and Involvement
+ Sales & Operations Planning / forecasting.
+ Materials procurement methodologies.
+ Planning methodologies.
+ MIS (MAX and other systems) enhancements.
+ New Product Introduction plans.

Skills and Experience Required
+ Substantial manufacturing management experience in a small to medium batch environment (both make-to-stock and make-to-order).
+ Strong understanding of the Order Fulfilment Process including: Sales & Operations Planning, planning and materials procurement methodologies.
+ Well versed in MIS / ERP systems - preferably with implementation experience and preferably with the MAX business system.
+ Hands-on experience of working within a Lean Manufacturing environment.
+ Project management experience within a matrix management organisation.

Qualifications Required
+ BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc degree in a mechanical engineering discipline
+ Chartered Engineer status will be highly desirable
+ MBA or similar qualification in Business Administration will be highly desirable
+ Prince2 or Prince II qualification will be highly desirable
