OptoElectronics Product Engineer - Transmitters & Receivers

SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTION:
Required to perform engineering activities within the photonic components R&D team. This team develops high performance transmitters (TOSAs) and receivers (ROSAs) for optical communication systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Knowledgeable engineer, preferably with experience of optical or electronic design. Will join a product R&D team and contribute to the development of new high performance integrated transmitters and receivers (TROSAs) for next generation optical transmission systems.

The involves input to the design and build of the products, priming of verification of prototype performance against customer specifications and liaising with NPI and manufacturing teams to introduce the product to manufacture. The individual will work closely with other members of the design team, including optical and electronic engineers, test and process development engineers and the product qualification team to deliver cost effective product solutions in a timely manner.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Honours degree or equivalent in physics, optics, electronics or equivalent technical discipline and 4 years' experience in industry

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Required:
Demonstrated ability to develop new optoelectronic or electronics products from concept into manufacture
Practical measurement techniques, data correlation and results analysis
Desirable:
Understanding of key optoelectronic device performance characteristics
Capability to model optical systems using Zeemax or similar
Familiarity with the use of software to automate laboratory measurements
Analogue and digital design techniques


PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS :

The candidate will have to demonstrate that they are capable working within a team environment and have proven practical experience in completing given tasks. Their technical background and hands-on skills will enable them to integrate quickly into an existing development team. The candidate must demonstrate strong inter-personal communication skills.
