Principal Engineer of Integration of Propulsion Subsystems onto Guided Weapon Systems.
Responsibilities as a Principal Engineer:
+ Provide support to the APL Bristol Proximity Manager, Propulsion Technical Expert and Project CDEs as required
+ Responsible for planning, conducting and reporting on the propulsion design (air breathing or solid rocket), study and test related activities across a number of projects
+ Support the design of the propulsion subsystem by working with the appropriate programme to understand requirements and liaise with suppliers to identify the solution
+ Conduct research into ways of improving the integration of propulsion subsystems onto guided weapon systems
+ Conduct research into the prediction of future trends in guided weapon propulsion technologies
+ Ensure the propulsion subsystem solution meets the requirements of the projects taking into consideration factors such as operation over a large envelope of speed, temperature, altitude, cost, mass, volume and safety requirements
+ Ensure that the propulsion subsystem solution does not have a severely detrimental effect in the performance of the overall weapon system
Skills and Knowledge as a Principal Engineer
+ Degree qualified or equivalent
+ Significant knowledge of either air-breathing or solid rocket propulsion technologies relevant to guided weapons
+ Working knowledge of associated technologies and advance
+ Experience of using propulsion tools - engine checks or rocket propulsion codes
+ Project management experience
+ Able to deal with multiple issues, tasks and priorities
+ Analytical and problem solving skills
