Quality, Health & Safety Manager - Defence Engineering. A major supplier of bespoke armoured vehicles to the UK MOD continues to secure orders for their range of protected vehicles. You will have total responsibility for all aspects of quality strategy, planning, and organisation of the business.
Job Role:
Overall responsibility for the organisation and management of the people, processes and tools used in the business and the delivery of designed vehicles and products in UK.
Key Responsibilities:
+ To provide leadership to the Quality team and to ensure it is appropriately organised and resourced to meet the needs of the overall business.
+ To 'champion' quality across our business and ensure a 'quality first' mentality that pervades our business, staff, supply chain and partners, products and interaction with our customer.
+ Be the senior Customer/ GQAR point of contact.
+ To ensure that the QMS is 'fit for purpose' and provide overall leadership to maintain our ISO certification and pursue related certification standards.
+ Maintain and improve the disciplines, standards and working practices within sub-contractors' facilities, ensuring that processes remain efficient, low cost and committed to quality.
+ Build and develop strong relationships with customers and peers.
Experience & Qualifications
+ BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc Degree in an Engineering or Scientific subject.
+ Substantial experience in a Quality and Health and Safety functional environment within defence or automotive background.
+ Experience with MOD defence and Automotive Quality Systems, such as APQP, PPAP and ISO 9001:2008, ISO/TS16949.
+ Defence quality experience, and especially interaction with GQAR.
+ Knowledge of various Manufacturing & Assembly Processes; metal stamping and forming, plastics, glass composites (GRP) and rubber molding, machining, cable/connector and electronics.
+ Solid understanding of problem-solving processes and tools, 6-sigma Black Belt.
