Role: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Hampshire/Berkshire borders
Salary: c. £42,000 - £45,000

Our client has been central to the defence of the United Kingdom for more than 50 years. Due to company growth they are looking to recruit a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Mechanical Engineering team.

The Role: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer you will be responsible for:

+ Leading and delivering the technical and engineering activities associated with the delivery of system specifications, assessments with evidence & verification activities
+ Providing engineering expertise to the development of designs with a technical discipline associated with weapon systems
+ Managing one or more projects associated with design, testing, approval or verification of a weapon system
+ Producing technical submissions associated with the engineering performance of weapon sub-systems and champions the submission through approval processes
+ Participating in and leading multi disciplinary cross-functional teams to collaborate on resolving weapon related problems
+ Supporting the professional development of others to build the capability of the organisation in weapon systems
+ Generating and maintaining design records and product definition (drawings, models and specifications) and identify and produce validation/verification plans

Experience:
As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer you will have experience of:

+ Degree qualified or equivalent in Mechanical Design Engineering or other relevant discipline
+ Broad knowledge of mechanical engineering including materials selection, ageing characteristics, structural and dynamic analysis, trials, hazard analysis, FMECA (Failure modes, effects and criticality analysis) and reliability assessment
+ Knowledge of Project Management and/or System Engineering principles
+ Demonstration of having led successful technical projects
+ Evidence of the successful application of systems engineering principles
+ Fundamental mechanical engineering principles understood and able to be applied
+ Working Experience of the evaluation methods for design, including analysis, testing, trials and assessments and their limitations
+ Understanding of configuration management, approval processes and change control procedures
