Software Design Engineer (C++), c6 Month Contract, Herts £40ph

Our Client is a multi-faceted high technology company that designs, develops, manufactures and markets a diverse range of microelectronic and test and measurement products. There products are in worldwide use, supporting communication systems, networks and automatic test systems.
They are a global provider of high technology solutions to the aerospace, defence cellular and broadband communications markets.

The Role
Design and development of software for test and measurement applications covering all stages of product lifecycle through to delivery.
Software will include both measurement software and GUI development.
Includes software design, implementation, test and technical/user documentation.
Will include understanding of extensive existing object-oriented C++ design and code.
Will be required to take full responsibility for assigned development tasks through to completion.

Experience
The successful candidate will be educated to degree standard within an engineering related discipline and have previous experience of the design and development of software for products involving hardware and software through all stages of the product lifecycle.
Applicants must be highly competent in using C++, with a strong mathematical ability and Object-Oriented design skills.
Previous experience in software interface and GUI design is essential, along with experience of the development of software for Microsoft Windows platforms.
Experience of GUI design and implementation is necessary. Experience of Qt and CORBA would be advantageous.
A familiarity or involvement with RF design and measurement techniques, wireless standards and/or Signal Processing/Analysis techniques would be desirable.
The ability to work independently or as part of team, together with the willingness and ability to direct others is essential.
The candidate must be self motivated and have a positive attitude and be solution orientated.
The ability to adapt to new software environments, tools or languages is essential, along with the passion and commitment to excellence balanced with the pragmatic needs to deliver to time and resource constraints.
