Clustering and SQL Engineer
Location: Reading
Duration: 1 year
Rate: £350 - £400 per day (Negotiable)
Must be SC CLEARED or eligible to go through clearance.
Urgently required for our expanding client is an experienced Clustering and SQL Engineer.
The Clustering / SQL Engineer is required to monitor and manage the Clusters and SQL databases.
The Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the clusters and Infrastructure is performing as required, and meets agreed service targets.
The responsibilities include:
* Managing and rectifying solutions to the Clusters and Databases
* Highlighting issues and escalations as needed. Making appropriate recommendations to the leadership team.
* Raising service requests, and dealing with vendors until resolved.
* Reporting on capacity and usage in an accurate and timely fashion.
* Following process of managing incidents via the appropriate systems and procedures.
* Implementing designs and configurations as requested by the engineering and development community.
* Develop implementation plans and scheduling work.
* Performing routine maintenance and housekeeping functions.
* Scheduling and performing upgrades and enhancements as needed.
* Contribute to developing local adopted processes and practices, utilising associated tools and software

* Symantec / Veritas Clustering
* SQL 2005
* Citrix
* Windows 2003/2008
* Active Directory
* Monitoring Tools
* Administration skills
* Technical documentation & communications.
* Working on Enterprise systems
* Operations support
Desirable skills:
* Defence knowledge.
* EMC
* iSCSI.
* VMWare.
* Radia
* Backup Technologies and associated Hardware.
* Familiar with Data Centre Hardware.
