SQL Subject Matter Expert (SME), Lead Consultant
Location: Gloucester
Duration: 3 months initially, maybe extended.
Rate: £300 - £400 per day
Candidates will need to have DV Clearance for this position.
Our defence client has a requirement for the delivery of a SQL 2005, 2008 high-availability infrastructure.
This requirement incorporates the delivery of:
* Multi instance SQL clustering
* SQL mirroring
* SQL replication
Delivery is to be automated where possible using Altiris DS.
The SQL SME is responsible for the overall design of all SQL database aspects and its consistent implementation across the projects.
Key aspects of the role:
- Production of Engineering components, Artefacts and Documentation.
- Production of Service Design Documentation (e.g. HLDs, LLDs, ICDs, etc)
- Production of Service Delivery Documentation (e.g. Operation Guides)
- Production of Build Documentation.
- Support of component owners to utilise database services and configure their component for resilient use of SQL services
- Configuration management of the component using ClearCase
- Resolve defects managed within Quality Centre.
- Review documentation with build and test teams
- Conduct unit testing
- Support the test team creating Infrastructure & Integration tests
Desirable experience/ attributes:
- Operates within a strict Configuration Management environment
- Understanding of Enterprise Architecture and Systems Engineering disciplines
- Understanding of Active Directory, Networking and Storage Configuration.
Desirable skills:
- Job Automation using Altiris Deployment Solution
- Failover Clustering
- Windows Server 2008
- Scripting (SQL, VB Script)
