Systems Engineering - Systems Architect
Purpose of Position
This role is accountable for system level analysis and design of complex defence systems, with provision of Systems Engineering support to the engineering team through the development, integration, test and acceptance phases on large scale programmes.
Main Responsibilities
1. System Analysis And Design - Provision of strong technical expertise into a requirements based approach to system analysis and definition using SysML (in either ARTiSAN or Rhapsody) to capture the analysis. Familiarity with DOORS and management of requirements baselines upon which to base the system analysis is essential. Production of design documentation is also essential.
2. Sub-System Equipment Spec Creation - Authoring of equipment specifications to define the elements of the chosen solution such that they can be procured or internally developed, and against which integration, test and acceptance can be based.
3. Requirements Management Expertise - Management of requirements transfer from DOORS into modelling tools.
4. Development Support - Provide Systems Engineering expertise to the programme team across the whole Systems Engineering lifecycle enabling successful delivery of the system.
Essential Experience/Skills
1. Degree in a relevant Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or IT discipline (or equivalent experience).
2. Background in design and development in relevant domain (C4I or AFV).
3. Experienced in the application of systems engineering process, including requirements management, systems analysis/design, system integration & test.
4. Systems engineering tools/methodologies, including: requirements management tools (DOORS desirable), system design tools (SysML/ARTISAN desirable), test tools (HPQC).
5. Issue identification, trouble shooting system level issues down to individual product level.
6. Good documentation skills, with experience in the preparation of systems documentation, including system requirement specifications, system analysis/design specifications, system test plans, system test specifications.
7. Ability to think at the systems level.
Desirable Experience/Skills
1. Experience of: ArcGis, SitAware, SQL server, Compilation of operating systems, Network security.
2. Experience of Intelligence gathering systems
3. Familiarity with a Military HQ operations and doctrine
4. Knowledge of various Mil-standards and Defence Standards
