A leading defence company based in Stevenage are seeking up to 15 Systems Design Engineers to work on a number of missile based projects. The "Systems Design Engineer" will ideally have previous defence experience working on weapon based systems, in a "systems engineering" or "design engineering" environment.
+ Carry out a full range of technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and/or the development of engineering capability, individually or as a member of a project team.
+ Prepare a full range of specifications (system, sub-system etc), develop designs in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards, and carry out design appraisals in assigned areas to ensure all standards are maintained.
+ Define testing approaches and specify tests in assigned/specialist area(s) and evaluate and make recommendations based on results, including making suggestions to improve test/diagnosis processes.
Typical Roles could include:
- Requirements analysis and design in response to customer requirements.
Identification of key design vulnerabilities between different solutions, e.g. maritime and land system variants.
- Development and embedding "hooks" into the system/sub-system design to enable adaptation/configuration for other applications, e.g. export variants.
- Investigation of potential re-use options for cost savings.
- Production and maintenance of sub-system software requirements specifications and interface requirements specifications.
- Ensuring correct flow down of top-level requirements to sub-systems and interfaces.
