Technical Architect/Authority is needed for a 6 month contract based in Reading for a large global IT company. This Technical Architect/Authority must have in depth knowledge of DII architecture and
Good understanding of DII key products (e.g. AD, Sanctuary, Exchange, Radia, MS Server 2003).
Role overview
There is a requirement for an Environment Technical Architect/Authority for the pre-live environments (Pre-Prod, Maintenance/System Test and Corporate Integration). This position is to:
* act as the single point of contact for the management and integrity of the environments, attending engineering governance meetings and assessing the impact of technical change
* Interface with the programme on new requests, ensuring accuracy and validity of the IT requests
* Providing technical assurance within SASL to ensure the leadership team are advised of requests that are high-profile, high in risk, etc.
* Provide technical input to the operational functions being carried out by the SASL organisation
Day to Day Responsibilities
The vision for DII(F), is for a managed infrastructure service, this position is a necessity to ensure this by providing:
Controlled environments to support effective testing throughout the engineering process lifecycle
Implementation of Environment Management procedures
Technical impact assessments for release planning
Environment Change Control
Configuration Management Control
Ensure complex incidents and problems are managed and resolved for the Environments
Work with the programme project release technical leads and project managers to impact assess work packages ready for release through the Environment, and identify potential conflicts and issues.
Provides technical oversight for the environments including activities such as:
o Back-up services
o Recovery procedures in place
o Software changes
o Hardware changes
o Network changes
o Access to the environment
o Administration controls
o Software patches
o Anti-Virus updates
Essential Skills
UK resident, able to be UK security-cleared
In depth knowledge of DII architecture
Good understanding of DII key products (e.g. AD, Sanctuary, Exchange, Radia, MS Server 2003)
Strong technical background spanning hardware, software and network components.
