Technical Support Engineer - IT Printers. A well established and profitable electronic equipment manufacturer continue to secure substantial orders from around the world for their range of printer systems.
These complex devices are typically integrated into IT networks. When problems occur, a Technical Support Engineer is required to provide technical support to all customers including e-mails, telephone and fax support, ensuring that all enquiries are dealt with satisfactorily and promptly.
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
+ Carry out detailed surveys, repairs and functional tests of products and their sub-assemblies.
+ Recording customer defects and materials used.
+ Reporting to the Customer Support Supervisor, the prime aim will be to demonstrate that customer queries have been dealt with and items repaired, to an acceptable standard and all records have been completed.
JOB DESCRIPTION
+ To provide technical support on the telephone to customers.
+ To provide technical support to production and test departments.
+ Ensure all incoming e-mail queries are answered promptly and log is up to date.
+ Ensure all faxed queries are answered promptly and log is up to date.
+ To initiate dispatch of loan printers, warranty replacement printers, and warranty replacement parts to customers.
+ Liaise with the Repairs Co-ordinator to expedite the timely return of loan printers and warranty replaced items.
+ To carry out site visits in order to provide support for customers and Sales staff. (National and international visits).
+ Testing of proprietary software and printer drivers, on all relevant PC operating systems
+ Employing various proprietary items of test equipment to establish correct conditions for test and measurement.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education and Qualifications
+ City & Guilds, C&G, ONC, OND, HND or HNC in an electronics, software or IT related technical subject
+ Full clean driving license
Experience
+ Significant experience of technical customer service or support for IT hardware, printers or electronic equipment
+ Experience of conducting classroom based technical training courses.
+ Experience of writing manuals/training information.
