Job Brief

Working in the Programme PMO supporting a group of Infrastructure Projects - c£20m in value, which incorporates 7-8 PS projects.

Responsibilities:

+ RAID assurance across projects working with LPMs

+ Finance tracking and managing a PFR process for some projects

+ Dependency tracking across multiple projects

+ Reporting and collation of weekly highlight reports into single reporting packs

The main focus of the role is Systems Engineering experience but with experience/awareness of the technologies being used. This is mainly infrastructure, but will incorporate other area's such as data centres and networks.

Roles & Responsibilities

As a Systems Engineer you will be responsible for fulfilling the system engineering lifecycle of one or more of the infrastructure elements from requirements through to deployment into service. This role will be responsible for taking service requirements and decomposing to system components to design and build components of the infrastructure, to allow infrastructure services deployment at sites. You will also be working closely with suppliers to determine the most appropriate solution.

These roles sit within a larger multi-role Core Infrastructure project team and will receive direction from the Core Infrastructure System Engineering Manager and the Principle Architect. Subject Matter Experts in datacentres infrastructure, networking, security, technical assurance, as well as other System Engineers, will be accessible to ensure that a complete, assured infrastructure service can be deployed to support the operation in the UK.

You will also be responsible for ensuring not only that an assured, quality technical system can be designed, tested and deployed, but also that the associated service operation capabilities are in place to enable the enduring operation of these infrastructure services once deployed. This will include service management capabilities, service desk interactions and resolver group / support arrangements.

The role also involves working with other projects within the overall change programme to accommodate their new Air Traffic Management applications onto the infrastructure.

Desired Skills / Experience

  • Experience in conducting System Engineering activity at all stages of the lifecycle, awareness of principles of standard and industry standard lifecycle activity.
  • Experience in service design and service assurance of IT Infrastructure, with particular knowledge of ITIL framework.
  • Working knowledge of converged infrastructure and network architectures, in particular Cisco USC and Nexus product families.
  • Understanding of security considerations and ISO:27001
  • Working knowledge of Agile Methodologies such as SCRUM
  • Ability to learn new tools/techniques quickly and apply to the activity.
