Ex-estate agency candidate
" After a career in estate agency spanning eleven years, I decided to move into recruitment mainly because I realised that my sales skills would be transferable, and with a young family to support, I felt that both the earnings and career development potential would be better.

During the interview process, the Managing Director, allowed me the freedom to speak to anyone in the organisation - without him being present. This not only gave me a true feel for what it would be like to work there but also showed a real commitment to openness and honesty.

The training has been excellent. I had two weeks with our training manager both in a formal setting and one to one at desk level which means you get the support to put into practice what you have learned - and get feedback. Additionally, colleagues have been very supportive.

The bonus system here is linked not only to fees but also to key competencies - like teamwork and so support structure are actively encouraged. However, you get the feeling here that people are helping because they want to - not because they have to."

Award-winning agency

"I chose CBSbutler because of all the awards they have won - that shows to me that they care about giving a first-class service to all their stakeholders.  Additionally, the organisation operates in what I consider to be safe and growing industry sectors."

Team leader - Technology and Defence

"I’ve been here seven years and am a Team Leader.

Most of the team leaders have been with the company a long time which means they have a really clear vision of where the company is going.

The training here is absolutely second to none and the company works really hard at getting the best out of people and they really show that by investing in people you can get them to work smarter and more effectively. "

Experienced consultant

"I joined to set up a permanent desk for the IT division. With twelve years of recruitment experience, I knew what my expectations were and found CBSbutler to be a refreshing change. They were honest and open about the role right from the start - there wasn’t a hard sell and I was given the space to make my own decision.

Since joining I have found the people within the organisation to have a very professional outlook - and an extremely mature approach to business which impresses me. And unlike many other businesses they allow you to have a personal life!!"

Transferring skills from high street to technical specialist

"I had three years experience of generalist recruitment in a high street agency and chose CBSbutler because of the niche areas it worked in - I really wanted to move to a specialist. I was impressed by the amount of awards the company had won both in terms of its role as a recruiter and the excellent service to clients and candidates, but also in terms of its role as an employer.

I’m now working as a consultant recruiting in the defence sector - there is a real team atmosphere - everyone is very supportive which makes you feel part of the bigger picture."

Investing in the sales force

I’m currently undertaking sales training both for new starters and existing consultants and will be commencing management training within the next six months

I really like the atmosphere here, there is a real sense of equality and people are treated like adults. It’s also a very diverse workforce which is great to see and the morale is very high - mainly because of the investment put into the people here."

Recent graduate

"Having recently graduated in business and finance, I was really interested in a career in recruitment as it appeared to be a real people business with a sales mix which really attracted me.

I wanted to work for a niche player rather than a generalist and have joined as a resourcer which involves helping to generate new candidates for the team.

The training has been brilliant. From a standing start with no experience I learned so much in the six week induction - it’s a fun atmosphere and everyone is very supporting and helpful."

Addressing the work/life balance
"I spent six years travelling three hours a day to get to my job in North London and to have that three hours a day back to yourself is amazing!  I can leave home at the same time and get into work an hour earlier. People talk about being able to earn more in London but it’s just not true - I was spending over £2,000 per year on a season ticket - that soon cancels out any ‘so called’ London Weighting.”
