Project Manager - Robotics & Autonomous Systems

Do you have extensive experience in delivering projects in complex and challenging environments?

Challenging Environments exist in numerous sectors, nuclear, petrochemical, space exploration, construction and mining are examples. The technical hurdle is different for different physical environments and includes radiation, extreme temperature, limited access, vacuum and magnetic fields, but solutions will have common features. The commercial imperative is to enable safe and cost efficient operations.

We have a unique opportunity for a talented Project Management professional with a proven track record, to manage a variety of projects focused on developing remote handling systems for the next generations of power stations and also to support the UK effort to apply novel technologies to all challenging and harsh environments for the protection of people and advancement of industry.

The main responsibilities for this role are-

+ Providing leadership for project managing budgets of several £M.

+ Provide managerial co-ordination of project, particularly resource planning, budget compilation / monitoring, overall execution strategy formation and delivery.

+ Work with the Project Sponsor to develop the agreed Project Management Plan through interactions with stakeholders, defining the project milestones and deliverables.

+ Execute and maintain project document management for the project cycle in compliance with the Authorities Quality Assurance requirements.

+ Ensure all project activities are undertaken in a systematic manner with a Systems Engineering approach at the core of the technical solution to project objectives.

Specific Skills and Knowledge-

+ Proven leadership experience through a track record of success in Project Management.

+ Ability to manage highly complex, technical projects for which a degree or equivalent in Engineering is preferred.

+ Ability to manage and accurately report on project costs and resources

+ A pro-active approach to safety, with good appreciation of UK compliance requirements in design.

You will lead in the delivery of Health, Safety and Facilities projects, services and compliance with a 70% bias towards health and safety, promoting and maintaining a positive safety culture within a World-class manufacturing facility. A key member of the team, responsible for delivering a professional, proactive health, safety and facilities service to all departments and their employees.

Within this role you will:

  • Establish, develop and maintain a proactive, compliant and positive Health and Safety culture.
  • Management of a small team of Safety and Facilities professionals.
  • Assisting with the development of key health and safety objectives, strategies and documentation; ensuring compliance with current legislation.
  • Lead by example, working alongside Line managers on all health and safety matters, maintaining a visual presence in all production areas, establishing strong feedback and escalation routes.

Qualifications / Experience required:

  • NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ level 5
  • CMIOSH Certified
  • BIFM qualification desirable but not essential
  • Management and evidence of improvements made within a medium sized manufacturing environment.

A market leading engineering organisation who have just moved into their brand new production facilities have now got an exciting opportunity for CNC Setter / Operators to join their rapidly expanding team. You will be working in a fantastic, modern machine shop environment whilst producing macxhined parts by setting and operating a CNC machine and must have cylindrical grinding experience.

Within this role you will:

  • Plan machining by studying works orders
  • Set up and run grinders by installing or adjusting fixed and rolling centres, tools, attachments, steadies and grinding wheels.
  • Set up and run lathes/mills by installing and adjusting three or four jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets and fixtures
  • Verify setting by measuring positions, first run part and sample work pieces
  • Maintain specifications by adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations

Ideally, you will have:

  • CNC Grinding experience
  • Used to working with Fanuc or Siemens 840D controls - ideal but not necessary
  • Good communication skills, results driven and able to succeed under pressure

A market leading engineering organisation who have just moved into their brand new production facilities have now got an exciting opportunity for CNC Turner / Miller to join their rapidly expanding team and to be trained into a Team Leader position. You will be working in a fantastic, modern machine shop environment whilst producing machined parts by setting and operating a CNC machine.

Within this role you will:

  • Set up and run CNC turning or milling machines
  • Verify setting by measuring positions, first run part and sample work pieces, and adhering to SEM standards
  • Maintain specifications by observing turning or milling operations, taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, trouble shooting processes, adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on a daily basis, following manufacturer's instructions, trouble shooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs through the intranet system
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs
  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs
  • Maintain a safe working environment in line with Health and Safety guidelines
  • Follow guidelines for quality
  • Identify improvements that have a direct impact on SQDCP KPIs (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People)

Previous experience operating cnc turning and milling machines is essential as well as wanting to progress into a Team Leader.
