Today’s Youth, Tomorrow's Engineers

CBSButler returns to Teen Tech Surrey 2017.

This year’s Teen Tech event has been yet another success for all sponsors and students who attended. There were over 300 young students from schools all over Surrey who came to the Sports village in Guildford, to meet large technology companies, real-world innovators, and industry leaders. Pupils were allowed to participate in simulated tasks that illustrated the real work that goes into science and technology. The insight zone allowed pupils to learn more about how STEM related subjects could lead into exciting and rewarding careers.

We are heading for a human capital crunch and unless we can rapidly increase the numbers of young people taking STEM related subjects at school, then we could be facing some real challenging times when hiring for STEM industries in the future.

As proud sponsors of this event, CBSbutler exhibited and shared our insight into the current jobs market, including some exciting developments in AI, Block chain, Engineering and Cyber security.

We listened to the students’ motivation and aspirations and provided advice on subject options. The students went away with a better understanding of the growing job market and the importance of adopting and sticking with a STEM subject all the way through to graduation.

Events such as these are incredibly important and more companies and industries need to be part of this, to ensure we can meet the economic demands of the future.
