Paris 3-2-1 - and They're Off!
We recently wrote
about eight brave consultants here at CBSbutler who signed up for the insane challenge of cycling from Surrey to Paris in three days with the goal of raising funds for YMCA East Surrey, 'a vibrant local charity...[that] helps people to believe in themselves, supports them to achieve their goals and inspires them to be the best they can be'.
Our 8 intrepid fundraisers set off from Redhill, Surrey, at 11am this morning, and will cycle all the way to Newhaven, where they'll spend the night. Tomorrow morning, they'll catch the ferry across to Dieppe, load up with snacks and supplies from the support team, and then it's back on their bikes for the ride to Gournay en-Bray. There, they'll spend the night at the 'authentic' Hotel le St Aubin, enjoying a traditional French dinner and a much-needed night's rest. On Saturday morning, they set off once again through the 'beautiful, tranquil and traffic-free French countryside' for the last stretch along the Seine to Paris, where they'll arrive in the evening. After spending the evening celebrating their momentous achievement, our cyclists will have time for a little sightseeing on Sunday morning before they take a much easier route home - the Eurostar.
Before they left, the team were 'nervous, but excited too!', 'proud' and 'thoroughly looking forward to the challenge'. We're looking forward to seeing how they feel when they return to work next week - we're betting sore, but extremely proud of themselves, as they should be.
All of us back here at CBSbutler wish our colleagues the best of luck in their challenge, and look forward to hearing their tales of achievement, woe and, undoubtedly, comedy when they get home.
Good luck, team!
