Halloween Fun in aid of the Samson Centre

We here at CBSbutler are committed to charitable works, and with Halloween just around the corner we’re not missing out on an opportunity to get all decked out in our best scary costumes for a good cause. Next Friday we’ll be coming into the office in our most frightening get-ups, playing games and having a pumpkin-carving competition, with all proceeds going to The Samson Centre.

The Samson Centre for MS, located on the outskirts of Guildford, Surrey, provides practical and emotional support for people living with multiple sclerosis in Surrey.

Multiple sclerosis is a debilitating disease which attacks the central nervous system. It is both permanent and progressive and is the most common neurological condition affecting young adults today.

Currently helping around 150 people, the Samson Centre is often at full capacity, and demand is expected to continue to grow by 10-15% annually. Operational costs exceed £200,000 pa, and as a self-funded charity, the Samson Centre receives no funding from the NHS, nor national or local governments.

Exercise and fitness are essential to those living with MS in order to keep muscles moving and maintain a level of mobility.

The Samson Centre offers physiotherapy, exercise, neuro health classes and gym sessions including adapted rowing; all fully supervised by their three neuro-physiotherapists, two physiotherapist, one physio assistant, three fitness instructors and a volunteer coach for the adapted rowing. Also available are Baric Oxygen Therapy sessions as well as reflexology and massage.

As well as their physical care, the Samson Centre also provides a place for sufferers to socialise, alleviating feelings of isolation and loneliness: not only for victims of MS, but for their families and carers too.

The Samson Centre endeavours to provide sufferers of MS of all ages with the chance to enjoy the best possible quality of life, for as long as possible.
