As an Applications Architect, you will select, adopt and adapt appropriate software design methods, tools and techniques; selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches. You will specify and design large or complex software components and review the quality of others' systems designs to ensure adherence to standards.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to contribute to the development of organisational software design and architecture policies and standards.
Your main responsibilities as an Applications Architect will involve:
Specifying and designing software to meet defined requirements by following agreed design standards and principles
Defining software, components, interfaces and related characteristics
Identifying concepts and patterns and translating into a design which provides a basis for software construction and verification.
Evaluating alternative solutions and trade-offs
Facilitating design decisions within the constraints of systems designs, design standards, quality, feasibility, extensibility and maintainability
Designing and communicating high-level structures to enable and guide the design and development of integrated solutions that meet current and future business needs
Providing comprehensive guidance on the development of, and modifications to, solution components to ensure that they take account of relevant architectures, strategies, policies, standards and practices (including security) and that existing and planned solution components remain compatible.
Your skills and qualifications:
Ability to develop and implement architecture, principles, standards, guidelines and training material.
Subject matter expertise in architecting major applications and how those applications and information flows support businesses/customers through full lifecycle
Detailed knowledge of architecture Modelling tools and techniques.
Detailed knowledge and experience of industry methodologies and frameworks (such as TOGAF, ITIL and SDLC).
Knowledge of project, programme and portfolio management methodologies and tools.
Experience in the formulation and optimisation of project portfolios and strategic roadmaps.
