Roles & Responsibilities
As an Operating Systems and Integration SME you will be supporting the Design Lead to deliver the Managed OS and DML solution:
managing and maintaining gold build pipeline, including developing new features, ensuring security hardening, and testing and assurance activities
developing new automations and integrations to simplify management and operation of the gold build factory, patching service, and DML
developing and refining end-to-end request fulfilment automation to define the user experience for consumers of our services
support the deployment and distribution of the patch management service
support the Managed OS solution as it passes through the development lifecycle
The role also includes supporting other Design Leads and Engineers across the SOM capability areas. In particular, you will be expected to contribute to the Orchestration and Automation capability where there is a strong overlap of skills.
The role will require you to work in multiple environments and in addition to software development skills, have a good understanding of IT infrastructure.
Skills Required
Experience in at least 4 of the following skills: Ansible, Python, JavaScript, PowerShell, Jenkins, git
Strong, analytical, troubleshooting skills, including debugging from the command line and/or via installed tools
Solid Linux sysadmin with experience of resolving issues in a production environment
Experience of delivering solutions using automated mechanisms to include creation & maintenance of GITLAB CI
Self-disciplined, following established processes and best practices whilst working across multiple environments: dev, test and production
Ability to see a delivery through the entire SDLC, including release and deployment
Experience of writing documentation such as user guides and knowledge articles which may be targeted at an audience with varying competencies
Ability to work collaboratively across multiple disparate teams and apply this to remote working conditions
Experience working in small teams and able to apply your own initiative without always needing direction. Ability to balance this self-learning with productivity
Experience of working with Assurance and contributing to the documentation deliveries
Skills Nice to have
Knowledge/Experience of Service Management Tools
Experience with Linux & Windows Automated Patching using PULP/WSUS and Ansible
Good time management
Strong focus on delivery
Working knowledge of Windows OS
Knowledge of the ITIL framework
