Commercial Manager

Up to £70,000 + Bonus + £6,500 car allowance + excellent benefits

Home/office based

A word leading, reputable BMS controls organisation is seeking an experience Commercial Manager to cover the North of the UK and to manage accounts in this region.

As the Commercial Manager you will be responsible for working closely with the operations teams to create a competitive supply chain function and continually look for improvements.

This is a hybrid role based both at home and in the office and therefore can live in/near any of these office locations Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds and Newcastle

Key accountabilities:

  • Manage and ensure that quantity surveying duties including commercial control of sizeable projects valuation of subcontract applications and invoices, raising internal invoicing are carried out by the delivery teams or more commercial or high value contracts by you as the direct

  • Cost analysis and cost performance reporting against budgets to ensure projects are working to the best rate possible from a commercial aspect

  • Seek new suppliers and contractors to continually improve the commercial competitiveness and delivery capability.

  • Support the sales, design and delivery teams in the preparation of tenders relating to the commercial factors of the project.

  • Support the pre-order team with commercial side contract negotiation, close and monitoring.

  • Lead negotiations with suppliers and contractors as part of a multi-functional team.

  • Offer commercial vetting/review support, and looks for solutions, offer advice.

  • Manage the preparation of contracts / pricing schedule for all types of contracts (T&M, NEC and JCT, and bespoke service level agreements).

  • Manage and create strategic partnerships to leverage the maximum value of the company

  • Act as buffer for commercial support between clients and company sales and delivery teams.

  • Run monthly reviews with the relevant operational teams.

  • Work with delivery teams to build, substantiate and validate account claims to achieve optimum return.

  • Drive compliance and ensure non-conformances are managed.

  • Drive margin improvement through better and consistent commercial practises.

Experience required:

  • Extensive background working in the construction or Mechanical & Electrical industry (BMS industry is preferred but not essential)

  • Excellent supply chain knowledge

  • Strong financial, commercial and management experience within a quantity surveying department.

  • Degree or equivalent in a commercial or quantity surveying subject


  • Up to £70,000 basic

  • £6,500 car allowance

  • Company bonus - paid annually
