A cutting edge Aerospace & Defence organisation have a unique opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Manager within their Business Improvement and Quality Team.

Reporting to the Head of Business Improvement & Quality, the Continuous Improvement Manager is tasked with delivery of key business projects to enable improvements in customer and business added value.

The key areas of responsibility for the role are:

  • Lead the definition and delivery of measurable and validated large business improvement projects through the application of Lean Six Sigma and appropriate project management tools.

  • Assist with the definition of potential projects to support the future growth of the business by identifying, quantifying and comparing potential projects (through statistical analysis / waste identification / elimination), and playing an active role in the prioritisation process.

  • Secure the appropriate business sponsorship for allocated improvement projects.

  • Actively identify potential risks & issues relating to the delivery of projects and manage a resolution process in a timely manner, only escalating major issues.

  • Establishment and deployment of tracking and monitoring systems through KPIs

  • Work with business functions to develop and implement data gathering techniques to identify and rank opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Deliver training and provide mentoring support in Yellow Belt, Green Belt, QRQC, DMAIC, Root Cause Analysis, 5S, Kaizen and workshop facilitation techniques, while being an exemplar of all of these skills among others. Any other duties commensurate with the role.

  • Manage the continued implementation of the Manufacturing Enterprise System (MES: Qualaxy) to ensure accurate data gathering utilising this paperless system and support operations when required.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Previous proven successful track record of delivering business improvement / operational excellence projects at Black Belt Level.

  • Experience of working with and influencing stakeholders at a senior manager level.

  • Possesses a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Qualification

  • Ability to lead a cross functional team.

  • Experience of working with relevant industry standards and management systems is essential, knowledge of EN9100 would be an advantage

  • Experience of working within the Defence Industry and with Defence Contractors would be beneficial

  • Experience of working with a Manufacturing Enterprise System (in particular Qualaxy) would be an advantage
