Data Scientist: You will join a nascent team within a multinational defence prime, and help them develop a big data analytics ecosystem. As an individual you will enjoy solving problems of a data-centric nature using the latest software technologies.

Job Description

  • You will be excited by environments in which there is a large amount of rapidly moving data and you will be keen to design and build the data infrastructure that the company and clients will need in the future. You will provide insightful analysis. You will have held positions such as "Data Scientist" and "Data Engineer".
  • You are likely to have a formal mathematics, statistics, or physics background. But it is important that you are able to focus more on producing great data-driven products to answer operational questions for the company and clients.
  • It's essential that you can perform analysis, touch production code, visualize data, and have expertise with tools designed for 'big data' and experience with messy, real-life data sets.

You will have experience in the following areas:

  • Statistical Regression Techniques for Continuous and Logistic Variables
  • Machine Learning Algorithms for Supervised and Unsupervised Learning
  • Geospatial and temporal Data Analyses
  • Gaussian Processes and Bayesian Techniques
  • Numerical Analysis and Equation Solving skills
  • Linear/Sparse Algebra and Matrix methods

We would find desirable the following skills:

  • Numerical Optimisation (Linear and Nonlinear, Mixed-Integer)
  • Linear/Sparse Algebra and Matrix methods

Suitable Tools include:

  • R
  • Python
  • Hadoop / Spark
