Design Authoriser

As a Design Authoriser within our Wing Plant Engineering Team, you will provide essential reactive and proactive lineside support to our plant operations. You will also play a key role in identifying, investigating, and implementing technical solutions for production easements, structural and systems modifications, cost improvements, and quality enhancements.

Tangible Deliverables to Time, Cost, and Quality:

  • Lead design investigations and formulate technical solutions for a variety of tasks, including Modifications to the Type Design, Design/Works Query Notes, and non-specific tasks, ensuring compliance with design, airworthiness, and safety requirements.
  • Act as a lead design engineer with industry-recognized design authorization signatory status, providing guidance on technical issues and governance.
  • Drive ongoing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team efficiency through method, process, and capability improvements, maintaining a robust lesson learned and feedback process.


Main Activities:

  • Lead, guide, approve, and/or authorize design solutions for tasks such as Major/Minor Design Modifications and Design Query Notes.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the engineering team, identifying skill gaps and developing plans for improvement.
  • Ensure that design standards and requirements are met by collaborating with other functions and projects to integrate design solutions.
  • Operate as a design authorization signatory.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field (master's preferred).
  • Proven experience in aerospace design and engineering.
  • Industry-recognized design authorization signatory status.
  • Strong knowledge of airworthiness regulations and safety standards.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
