We are seeking a resilient, organised and collaborative Early Careers Coach with excellent influencing and communication skills to join our People Development Team.

This is a new role within our People Development team as part of Early Careers function. You will be working with our award winning apprenticeship programme (IMeCHE Advanced Apprenticeship provider of the year 2020, listed in the top 100 apprentice employers).

This role is key in strengthening our ever growing apprenticeship programme which is an essential part of the future. It will provide you with the ideal mix of day to day contact with our apprentices as well as being able to influence the future direction of our scheme.

Job Description

You will be responsible for overseeing and providing support, additional training, coaching and mentoring to all engineering apprentices. You will also be working with our apprenticeship standard providers to strengthen our apprenticeship programme.

  • To line manage & supervise engineering apprentices, including carrying out regular reviews of their progress.

  • To act as the technical expert supporting apprentices in the completion of competency and knowledge portfolios

  • To support apprentices in completing qualifications and preparing for gateway and final assessments

  • To support apprentices in their work placements and provide support and training to apprentice supervisors

  • To work with the wider Early Careers team in building effective working relationships with apprenticeship standard provider organisations.


  • Significant knowledge of the early careers sector and vocational qualifications.

  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of apprenticeship standards, assessment criteria and procedures

  • Detailed knowledge of apprenticeship programmes for engineering subjects

  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of equality, diversity and inclusion Current technical competence within advanced machining, intelligent automation or metrology environment

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (IT literate in Excel, Word, Outlook...)
