The Company:

A market leader manufacturer of optical and photonic products used within telecom, enterprise and data centre networks are seeking an experienced Senior Electronics Engineer.

The Role:

You will be working with optical components and subsystems, including commercial lasers enabling advanced manufacturing of next generation complex products. The focus will be on design of hardware and firmware (electronics) used by the software test team to deploy test systems in operations and R and D.

* Design electronics to enable manufacture and test of new or existing products

* The role is to design the hardware required to support the manufacture/test/evaluation of our products

* It is a mix of PCB design/Schematic/Layout, Firmware (embedded C) and some software (typically C#)

* Design evaluation/test boards and other electronics to support new product introduction and manufacture ramps

* Design, procure, document and maintain custom PC-controlled instrumentation (PCBAs) to enable alignment, test, calibration, burn-in and other manufacturing stages in a cleanroom environment

* The main focus is on the data acquisition electronics equipment and FW to support test automation rather than on the software to implement the actual tests but some software expertise is required (drivers, automation of calibration and GUIs)

* This is a mix of analog (typically source-measure circuits, signal conditioning circuits and other opamp circuitry) and digital (control) electronics used to drive and measure the performance of electro-optical components.

Minimum requirements:

+ BSc in Electronic Engineering with relevant experience will be considered

+ PCB design experience both schematic and layout

+ Experience working with any major PCB design software (Mentor, Altium, Cadence)

+ Experience writing firmware

+ Some software experience (preferably C#)

Highly valued Skills:

* Experience in C# (or other Microsoft .NET languages like VB.Net or C++)

- Experience writing PC GUIs for electronic equipment

* Experience working with FPGAs, VHDL and soft cores

- Experience with high speed digital design

* Experience working with fast links between PC and electronics equipment

- Software experience with USB 2 or USB 3 bridge chips (FTDI FT-series, Cypress FX2 or FX3 controllers)

* Experience working with controlled impedance traces and high-speed signals (RF PCBs)

* Experience working with System on a Chip (SoC)

* Experience using lab instrumentation

Valued Skills:

* Experience working with optoelectronics (laser diodes, photodiodes)

* Experience designing instrumentation

* Experience with RTOS

* Experience with DSPs
