A market leader manufacturer of optical and photonic products used within telecom, enterprise and data centre networks.

What Will You Do?

Minimize equipment downtime by providing support/maintenance of the automated test solutions (hardware and software). The test systems provide characterization and screening data for optical components at chip and/or module level in a cleanroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing support to operations to ensure test equipment is available to meet production schedules. Much of this support is 'hands on' and will be in a cleanroom environment;

  • Production is 24/7, shift work will be required (rotating or continental shifts are possible);

  • Commissioning and maintaining automated test equipment (ATEs) for optoelectronics components (Lasers, Modulators, Detectors, and Photonic Integrated Circuits);

  • Improving and maintaining existing test infrastructure to ensure production schedule and output targets are achieved;

  • Identify opportunities to maximise test capacity (test time reduction, re-test rate reduction…);

  • Technician training and process documentation authoring;

  • Supporting the development team by validating software, giving inputs to equipment design, wiring test kits and debugging electronics.

Requirements

  • Analog and digital electronics debugging, ability to interpret electronic circuit diagrams;

  • Experience in basic S/W debugging (stop/start/repeat failing code blocks);

  • Able to write detailed and informative error report clearly indicating problems;

  • Able to prioritise work when dealing with production impacting problems;

  • Knowledge of automated testing in a manufacturing environment;

  • Any text-based programming language ideally VB and/or C#, understanding concepts more important than syntax;

  • NI Test stand;

  • Instrument automation protocols (GPIB, RS-232, VISA, LXI etc);

  • National Instruments test instruments (e.g. PXI);

  • Knowledge of robotic systems;

  • High Precision Motion control (e.g. Thorlabs/Newport);

Desirable:
Experienced working with opto-electronics devices (laser, modulators, detectors);

  • Debugging of C# / VB.Net code;

  • Adjust / Modify TestStand sequences;

  • Epson Robot systems;

  • Re-teaching computer vision systems to recognise new products.

Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or equivalent experience in any scientific or Engineering (Electrical/Electronic) based field.
