Engineering Manager - Mechanical Biased

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering manager with a mechanical background to work on complex systems for an industry leader within the Defence and Aerospace arena. You will be given autonomy to lead exciting and critical projects within their Mechancial manufacturing sector whilst working for a reputable and arguably one of the most well recognised companies globally.
The Mechanical Engineering Manager will lead and manage the Engineering department of the Mechanical Engineering function to achieve strategic and tactical objectives. Facilitates the Systems Engineering approach to ensure that products and services are engineered to meet; business, customer and regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for continuous improvement of the Mechanical Engineering processes to improve departmental performance with an understanding / appreciation of other cross functions inc Electronics / Electrical and Software.
Duties will include:
+ Improving the maturity of the Mechanical Engineering process
+ Collaborative planning of objectives and accuracy of both resource estimates and cost collection
+ Ensuring application of design for manufacturing and assembly, design to cost and design failure modes and affects
+ Customer experience - ensuring customer frustrations are addressed and robust
Skills and knowledge needed for the Engineering Manager:
+ Substantial experience of engineering complex systems ideally in developing electro-mechanical and pressure systems.
+ A systems thinker with thorough understanding of systems engineering methodologies.
+ Broad commercial and financial understanding.
+ Experience in managing personal and professional development of direct reports including conducting appraisals.
+ Ideally a Charted Engineer (CEng)
