One of the world's leading global defence, security and aerospace companies are recruiting an Engineering Manager - Product Safety, to be part of the programme that will design the latest Surface Combatant for the Canadian Navy.
This role will provide you with an opportunity to lead in facilitating the safety arguments for the ships we will design in this programme. You will work with the team to justify the claim that the ship design is safe with all the evidence and justifications available brought together to a collective piece or a model to collect this.
Your main responsibilities as an Engineering Manager - Product Safety will involve:
Supporting the Chief Engineer via the Systems Engineering TA in planning, coordinating and effective delivery of Product Safety within the Project;
Developing and subsequently maintaining the Product Safety Management Arrangements in support of the Project
Undertaking a range of Product Safety activities in line with all relevant project and corporate processes and specific customer requirements, including co-ordination and delivery of PS Function outputs contributing to the Whole Ship Safety Case Report
Undertaking review, qualification and approval activities relative to deliverable and delivered items and facilitating the implementation of relevant Product Safety processes and production of deliverables
Supporting the development and mentoring Product Safety and Environmental Engineers
Essential skills and qualifications:
Track record of delivering safety in large or complex projects is essential
Familiar with Marine Engineering Product Environmental Legislation and Regulation;
Experienced in safety risk management, this will include hazard identification, analysis, risk assessment and risk mitigation;
Familiar with rules, operating methodologies and certifying responsibilities of Naval Authorities (UK and/ or other) and Lloyds Register
Ability to construct cogent and coherent safety case reports, including integration of Human Element aspects of safety arguments;
Maritime or offshore experience particularly in the area of safety
