Location - 60/70% Corsham The rest Basingstoke + Portsmouth

Role Description -

  • The role holder may manage a small/medium design team. They are a competent design authority on larger or more complex solutions, demonstrating an understanding of the customers' business and commercial issues. They identify, design and deliver larger or more complex architectures, strategies and specific solutions.

  • Responsible for the design and communication of structures to enable and guide the design and development of integrated solutions that meet current and future business needs.

  • Changes to service, process, organization, operating model and other aspects may be required in addition to technology components, and solutions must demonstrate how agreed requirements (such as automation of business processes) are met, any requirements which are not fully met or, and any options or considerations which require a business decision.

  • The provision of comprehensive guidance on the development of, and modifications to, solution components to ensure that they take account of relevant architectures, strategies, policies, standards and practices and that existing and planned solution components remain compatible.

Mandatory Skills Required:

  • Installation and integration of software packages - capability to understand how they are deployed and configured, what is being changed by the install and be able to translate this to create and update installation scripts

  • Identify configuration properties, where they are located and suggest how they can be safely changed

  • Deployment of JAVA based products and understand issues of co-existence of versions

  • Basic Networking understanding - Ports Protocols such as WMS and KML (mapping and overlays)

  • Powershell

  • PKI Certificates (creation and installation in both Windows and JAVA environments)

  • COTS products

  • Databases: MS-SQL, PostgreSQL, Installation and configuration not SQL programming

  • Operating Systems: Windows Server 2012, Windows 7 & 10, VMWare Hosts, Solaris

  • Windows Policies

  • Flexible travelling

  • Potential for weeks/months away from home

Desirable Skills Required:

  • Experience of NATO Applications support

  • NATO FAS Apps

  • XMPP Chat systems

  • Track applications (NIRIS, ICS, ICC)

  • IBMI2 suite

  • Share Point

  • GEO systems e.g. ARCGIS and iGeoSit

  • Met Office Applications
