The Role:
Supporting a client that wants to exit their mainframe within the next 2 years. They have several workloads on the mainframe that support revenue generating business processes.
You will be assisting the client in assessing the existing mainframe workloads, developing migration strategies & plans, and delivering services to support the mainframe migration.
Essential Technical Skills
Fortran / PL1 / Assembler
Desirable Technical Skills
Modern Programming Languages e.g. Python, C++
Experience
Mainframe professional with 5+ years of experience on mainframe technologies
Experience of leading or working on mainframe modernization or migration projects
Able to participate in mainframe discovery and assessment exercises to scope and inventory mainframe applications that must be migrated
Analyse mainframe applications to fully understand interdependencies and data flows
Participate In defining migration strategy based on application move groups that enable incremental migration of applications whilst minimizing impact to clients business processes
Able to identify appropriate treatments to enable mainframe applications to be migrated (Rearchitect/Rehost/Replace/Rewrite)
Experience of Rewriting legacy applications to modern programming Languages
Experience of developing and executing data migrations
Experience of supporting Testing and Test Automation to ensure migrated workloads meet functional and non- functional requirements (performance, resilience etc)
Experience of Agile/ DevOps methods in delivering mainframe migrations
