Job Description

This position will play a key role in the support of a variety of innovative, accreditable, cost efficient and profitable solutions which comply with the classification system. These solutions are managed from the company's premises in Stoke-on-Trent and are the foundation for the Company's secure managed ICT services.

Responsibilities

Role Overview

  • Be the Scrum Master for the Engineering team, working with the Head of Engineering and the team to break down the sprints/deliverables, allocate work, measure success and track progress etc..

  • Take the lead on Software Development for the Company

  • This would include working in traditional development tools along with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS and/or Azure.

  • Become a capability owner for a subset of the company's portfolio

  • Initially this would be the End user interface set of products, including internally developed solutions, along with any COTS products we use.

  • Drive the development of the user experience through a user centric design approach

  • Work with the SME's within the team to make the concepts a reality, through a series of POC's and other demo's

  • Ensure solutions are "Secure by Design"

  • Ensure handover to Service Operations is completed in an effective and timely manner.

  • Liaise with Service Operations and Sales to develop and maintain a prioritised backlog of feature requests and changes.

Skills

  • An excellent technical knowledge of a OOP language (C#/Java)

  • An understanding of Agile methodology (Sprints, Scrum)

  • Experience with the following technologies:

  • .NET Core, ASP MVC

  • SQL/NoSQL - Querying and Database Design

  • Docker and Kubenetes

  • SOLID/DRY Principles

  • JavaScript, Node.Js, Python

  • API use and creation

  • Visual Studio, VS Code, GitHub

  • Using tools such as JIRA to manage backlog and sprint activity

  • At least 3 years experience of software development in a commercial setting.
