A world leading Defence organisation are looking for a Laboratory Technician to work as part of a team carrying out testing of a wide range of raw materials, intermediate production materials and final production products. Some of these materials are explosive in nature.
Chemical, physical, mechanical and hazard properties are determined using a mixture of advanced analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, IR, AAS as well as traditional ones such as gravimetric and volumetric analysis. Other techniques are specific to our industry. Training in the different techniques is available where required.
Key responsibilities -
+ Knowledge and practical experience of standard laboratory test methods
+ Knowledge and practical experience of handling hazardous chemicals including COSHH and risk assessments
+ Understanding of technical specifications and standards
+ Ability to work unsupervised and to a high level of accuracy
Prospective candidates should have a degree or equivalent qualification in chemistry or material science. They should also have experience of working in a laboratory environment.
