A cutting edge Aerospace & Defence organisation have a unique opportunity for a Manufacturing Development Engineer to join their Operations team.
The Manufacturing Development Engineer will define how the product will be manufactured and industrialised that achieves the required design standard, to meet financial targets, required economic rates, RFT and robust lean processes.
Technical Responsibilities
Develop rocket motor production methods/processes for NPI or updates including current products
Lead on industrialisation of new rocket motor products; employing DFM, DFMEA, PFMEA ensuring the requisite Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) maturity
Lead on research and subsequent embodiment of advanced manufacturing techniques to drive agility, cost, lead time and quality
Support Capex projects from justification through specification, SOW, procurement, FAT, SAT and validation
Lead / attend engineering / technical review meetings and present work status and provide feedback where required
Assess the manufacturing requirements associated with a product, compare to existing capabilities and make recommendations for development
Identify weakness in parts of the processes (utilising the MRL process) - develop countermeasures that will be in line with the business's strategic ambitions
Collaborate with supplier representatives to ensure modern technology and Components are being used to develop and drive processes and enabling RFT targets to be achieved
To work closely with the Quality Engineers on lessons learnt coming from investigations conducted for future product manufacture
Essential Qualifications:
An HNC or HND qualification or higher in a relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent
Previous proven experience in a production manufacturing environment
A minimum level of Green Belt qualification in Lean Manufacturing Techniques
Essential Experience:
Previous experience within a production environment in a Manufacturing Engineering role
Previous experience in lean manufacturing tools and techniques, including, but not limited to; value stream mapping, 6S, KanBan, Kaizen, MRL, PFMEA and SPC
Experience interpreting and an in depth understanding of engineering drawings
Experience in project delivery and problem solving techniques for example DOE and mini tab
Experience utilising quality tools and Advanced Product Quality Planning techniques including, but not limited to; Capacity and Capability studies, DoE, 8D, Lean Sigma, Control Plans, APQP
