Mechanical Design Engineer

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and driven Mechanical Design Engineer with a proactive and can-do attitude. The successful candidate will be responsible for independently managing projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, and actively participating in the development of prototypes. This role requires self-motivation, exceptional organizational skills, and a strong willingness to take ownership of the design process.

Technical Skills:

• Evaluate mechanical and pneumatic systems using principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, pneumatics, energy transfer, and materials.
• Proficient in applying mathematical tools and approaches in the design process, including static and dynamic modelling.
• Use design tools like SolidWorks, PDM software, and FEA software for product design.
• Ensure designs comply with product specifications, standards, and safety requirements.
• Commission, manage, and interpret specialist design inputs from third-party experts.
• Develop products based on customer requirements, testing manufacturing methods, and materials.
• Create designs aligned with Lean manufacturing philosophy.
• Assure system and product quality through testing and confirmation processes.

Practical Skills:

• Assist and lead prototype assembly.
• Lead the design of assembly and test rigs/equipment.
• Undertake test programs safely, document outcomes, and analyse failures.
• Prepare comprehensive test reports and address outcomes as required.
• Provide engineering information and maintain compliance with regulations.
• Perform end-to-end design engineering tasks.

Project Planning Skills:

• Develop detailed project plans and track progress using Asana project management tool.
• Ensure tasks and timelines are met.
• Communicate changes to project scope, schedule, and costs.
• Identify issues early and communicate them.

Team & Culture:

• Share knowledge and collaborate with the team.
• Ask questions and challenge politely, actively engaged, and curious.
