We are currently seeking a highly motivated and driven Mechanical Design Engineer with a proactive and can-do attitude. The successful candidate will be responsible for independently managing projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, and actively participating in the development of prototypes. This role requires self-motivation, exceptional organizational skills, and a strong willingness to take ownership of the design process.
Technical Skills:
- Evaluate mechanical and pneumatic systems using principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, pneumatics, energy transfer, and materials.
- Proficient in applying mathematical tools and approaches in the design process, including static and dynamic modelling.
- Use design tools like SolidWorks, PDM software, and FEA software for product design.
- Ensure designs comply with product specifications, standards, and safety requirements.
- Commission, manage, and interpret specialist design inputs from third-party experts.
- Develop products based on customer requirements, testing manufacturing methods, and materials.
- Create designs aligned with Lean manufacturing philosophy.
- Assure system and product quality through testing and confirmation processes.
Practical Skills:
- Assist and lead prototype assembly.
- Lead the design of assembly and test rigs/equipment.
- Undertake test programs safely, document outcomes, and analyse failures.
- Prepare comprehensive test reports and address outcomes as required.
- Provide engineering information and maintain compliance with regulations.
- Perform end-to-end design engineering tasks.
Project Planning Skills:
- Develop detailed project plans and track progress using Asana project management tool.
- Ensure tasks and timelines are met.
- Communicate changes to project scope, schedule, and costs.
- Identify issues early and communicate them.
Team & Culture:
- Share knowledge and collaborate with the team.
- Ask questions and challenge politely, actively engaged, and curious.
- Contribute positively both technically and socially/culturally.
- Provide constructive feedback and voice concerns.
- Ability to work with a culturally diverse and international team.
- Willingness to travel and support projects internationally.
- Flexibility to attend Teams calls outside normal office hours to accommodate different time zones.
