Would you like to play a key role in delivering end to end Maritime Services and support to over half of the UK Royal Navy's surface fleet?

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be helping to define and design new products and also redesigning obsolete equipment in line with current regulatory requirements. You will have opportunity to overview whole engineering lifecycle requiring effective collaboration within multi discipline teams.

You will also have responsibility for specific activities including: The new design, development, test, customer acceptance and in-service use of major items of processing and support equipment required to replace obsolete hardware and systems, support to legacy systems is also required, and ensuring compliance with current regulatory standards and requirements.

Your main responsibilities as a Mechanical Design Engineer will involve:

  • Producing technical documentation in line with company guidelines and prepare and deliver Mechanical Design presentations

  • Taking part in supplier/stakeholder meetings and in addition to design reviews

  • Assisting Engineering Governance and Requirements Capture activities

  • Developing a broader knowledge of products and systems outside of the mechanical domain

  • Designing and conducting mechanical testing methods

  • Establishing and building positive working relationships within the business, supply chain and stakeholders in order to improve understanding of the business

  • Undertaking continuous personal development as required in order to increase responsibility, build skills, knowledge and competence in a range of business situations

  • Supporting the development of other early careers engineers within the discipline

Your skills and qualifications - Mechanical Design Engineer

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or equivalent experience

  • Understanding of mathematical and physical values

  • A good understanding of the theory and concepts of Mechanical Engineering gained through education and work experience is required

  • Applies Mechanical Engineering principles for providing design solutions

  • Understanding of the lifecycle guidance process

  • Knowledge of Design and conduct of mechanical testing methods
