Mechanical Engineering Manager

Based in Middlesex

A world leader in the Aerospace industry are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Manager that will be part of the leadership team. They need someone that can manage and lead the Mechanical engineering department, which is the core part of this innovative company.
Key Responsibilities:

Operational Excellence - The post holder shall drive operational excellence of the department by:
Improving the maturity of, the Mechanical Engineering process including; process mapping, procedures, detailed work instructions and best practice guides, and ensuring project team compliance (KPI - Process Maturity Level).
Ensuring the collaborative planning of achievable objectives and the accuracy of both resource estimates and cost collection (KPI - Accuracy of Mechanical Engineering man-hour cost estimates, Actual Expenditure against Budget).
Customer Experience - The post holder shall contribute to customer excellence by:-
Ensuring that customer frustrations attributable to the Mechanical Engineering function are addressed proactively and robustly.
Managing assigned workflows to produce deliverables on-time and in full.
Technology & Service Excellence - The post holder shall contribute to technology and service excellence by:-
Ensuring that project teams are working to requirements, which meet the appropriate maturity level objectives throughout the product lifecycle.
Ensure that design solutions meet the minimum maturity level objectives applicable to the project phase/milestone.
People Excellence - The post holder shall ensure the capability of departmental staff to achieve all allocated operational, technical and service excellence objectives by:-
Defining the technical and leadership skills and competencies required in departmental staff and closing gaps through coaching, mentoring, training or strategic recruitment.

Knowledge and skills essential:

Substantial experience of engineering complex systems ideally in developing electro-mechanical and pressure systems.
A systems thinker with thorough understanding of systems engineering methodologies.
Broad commercial and financial understanding.

Experience in managing personal and professional development of direct reports including conducting appraisals.
Experience as a technical leader and visionary
